A downloadable game

Harrowing in the light is a unique genre mashup of turn-based strategy and intense real time tower defence gameplay. Taking command of a squad built up of archeologists, astronomers and engineers you are tasked with uncovering the mystery behind the lost expedition that came before you.

Undertake challenges that will push your tactical thinking as you battle hordes of monsters with a range of different combat abilities at your disposal, explore the depths of the ancient Kulahu ruins and level up your squad while experiencing a new take on well-established tropes in traditional turn-based and tower-defence games.

PRE-ALPHA DEMO BUILD - VERTICAL SLICE

This build of Harrowing in the Light is the final end of semester build from RMIT Games undergrads from Melbourne, Australia. The team has put together a vertical slice to be representative of what we had hoped to achieve with this title.

Several features are in early work in progress states and as such do not completely function as intended. The idea of this build was to showcase the idea and concept behind the game, while highlighting potential layers of strategy and further gameplay mechanics, as well as building up a graphical style for the project.

Notes: At the title screen, click to progress! P will restart the game. Performance may be undesirable - This is due to lightmaps not being baked in this build and lights/shadows being rendered in real time. (costly!) You can click on the character portrait in the bottom left to focus on that unit.

Known Issues:

Barricades are not fully implemented or functional, building them has the potential to trap the player characters completely, stopping all progress. Enemies that have killed a player character do not re-target to the next player character. Enemies can walk across water. Some odd times some battle skills will stop working.
